Melts your heart, right?  Well they do mine!

The sermon was really good that morning.  Our pastor was on his sabbatical but Pastor Jimmy Dodd talked about sonship...what it meant to be children of God.  It was such a good reminder of God's crazy love for us.  He doesn't expect us to be perfect, or to come to Him when we have it all together.  He accepts us just as we are.  He is full of grace and abundant love.  Pastor Dodd talked about his Father's Day card that he received from his youngest daughter.  He showed us a picture on the screen and said that he didn't say to her, "Honey, if you could just fix my arm on the picture you drew of us...one is way longer than the other one, and my eyes are half the size of my head, and could you capitalize the "i's" in your note to me, and what is this? why did you scribble out a whole line?  Why didn't you start a new card when you messed up? If you could just fix these problems and re-submit it, then I would accept this from you."

Pastor Dodd said, "No way!  I LOVED the card!  It melted my heart.  She told me that she loved me four times in it, it was obvious she spent a lot of time making it for me.  It was perfect."  His point was that God is that way when He looks at us.  It was a moving example to me and one I can remember in my mind because of the illustration.  I found myself thinking of my parents and how much love they have for me despite all of my own shortcomings.  I know they love me and would do anything for me.  I'm so thankful to have this demonstrated to me so that I can more fully understand they way my Heavenly Father's love works as well.  I realize these things more and more the older I get, and my appreciation for them continues to grow.  I hope I can do the same for Nathan and his little brother.

So glad Nathan has such a great role model in his daddy...and one who loves him so very much!

Lounging.  That picture taking was rough!

So funny when he puts his hands in his pockets!

Mom made us roast beef! Yum!  And Nathan was hot from being outside so we stripped him down :)

He said he was "all done" but apparently not.  See the crescent roll in his hand? :)

What's in your pocket pappy?

After everyone had nice long naps we went outside.  Nathan decided he needed some pool time.  So he got in without his trunks or swim diaper!

He thought his pool needed "mowed".

He was having a pretty good time entertaining himself...and us.

His diaper was really starting to swell with the pool water.

Didn't seem to bother him though!

When we took this sucker off, it was SO heavy!

After coming in for awhile Nathan was ready to go somewhere again.  When he wants to go on a walk he goes and gets Pappy's shoes.  He started this the first morning Dad was there after they had gone on a walk the night before.

He's hard to turn down.  He also would only let pappy put his shoes on during their visit...not mommy!  ha ha.

Pappy does make it fun.

Taking a walk in our neighborhood.

He is so funny.  He really wanted to hold Pappy's hand!  And not just when crossing the street...even when he didn't have to :)

The other day we were driving by the recreational center/pool area and passed this spot.  Nathan starts saying, "Pap Pap, Pap Pap!"   Again, I couldn't believe he recognized it and associated it with him.

That night dad and Matt cut the boards for the shelves in our laundry room, coat, nursery and master bedroom closet.  Craig was nice enough to let us borrow his circular saw and saw horses!  Mom's good at the details :)

Wow it feels like we were there too... Nathan sure likes his pappy and grandma. I know he misses them now. It won't be long til Grandma is back out there. Just love the pictures. Gram and Pap
