Sick Boy & Trip Down the Stairs

Sorry, no pictures. Just an update. We had a rough weekend around here...well, mostly Sunday actually. It should have known on Friday that Nathan might be coming down with something. He took a long 3 hour nap in the middle of the day and then took ANOTHER one later. Ashley came to watch him while Matt and I went on a date and she said he was subdued but seemed to sleep well that night.

Saturday you could tell he was feeling worse throughout the day but he seemed to be handling it well. We had friends over that night and he went to bed okay...it took a little bit more cuddling from me than normal, but he went down pretty quickly, but by 11pm he woke up crying. That night was rough. He had a high fever and Matt even took him to Walmart with him to get Ibuprofen (tylenol wasn't working) because he wouldn't sleep anyway. He was up on and off all night. I took the final shift and got him to go to sleep around 5am because thankfully, the fever broke and he did sleep in a little longer than usual in the morning. We didn't go to church on Sunday and all three of us stayed in. Matt and I tried to grab naps when we slept to make up for our own lack of sleep but he wasn't napping well at all. Thankfully, he finally took a longer nap around 3pm. He just wanted to be held all day...not sitting but standing, he was whining and crying a lot with what little voice he had, and his nose was running a lot!

To top it all off, closer to the end of the day, when we all were exhausted and emotional, Matt was trying to take a shower and Nathan insisted on being with him and didn't want me at all. So as Matt was getting ready to get in, Nathan brought him a zip toiletry type of bag of mine that he wanted open. Matt told him no, and I yelled up that it's okay, I let him have it and he just wants him to open it up for him. Nathan hears me and starts to bring it down the stairs to me. I hear Matt say, "Go ahead, take it to Mommy and she will open it for you". Then I hear a series of thuds (a long series) and I go running to the bottom of the stairs because I know exactly what just happened. Matt raced down the stairs too but couldn't catch him. He fell all of the way down. Thankfully, he rolled all of the way and didn't go head first. He took him a little to catch his breath and even cry once Matt picked him up at the bottom (he beat me there). He was obviously shaken much more than he was hurt. He had a little brush burn (some call it rug burn) on his forehead from the carpet but that was it. I'm sure this is just the first of many alarming bruises to come, but I still didn't like it. I held him for awhile after he fell just rocking him and he acted like he was going to fall asleep. But then I called to Matt wondering if we should check him out further before I ended up laying him down. Matt came down and he perked up. He went to Matt and because Matt's shirt was still off, he pinched his nipple and got a big smile on his face. We had a laugh because he was obviously fine and acting like his normal self :)

We're very thankful he is okay. He's taken things up and down the stairs before without a problem but he did seem a little clumsier that day when he was sick with tripping and everything, so maybe that's what happened. Who knows. It's Monday, and he is having no issues or reservations going up and down the stairs. His 18 month appointment was scheduled for this morning but we canceled it because we didn't want to go in, pay the co-pay for the visit and then have to come back for the immunizations on another day and get charged another co-pay. Plus, we'd rather just get it done all it once. We didn't think they would give him them since his body was fighting off this sickness.

He's still sick, but definitely seems to be improving. So we're happy for that. We are trying t o get lots of vitamin C in him and apparently, he loves orange juice, so that is going well. He and I are laying low today and probably tomorrow too...we have to be here all day because inspectors are coming out to check on our a/c installation.

P.S. Yep, I'd say he is feeling better. He is now diving onto the couch from the ottoman!

Paint Colors and More

The long awaited post...here's our living room with our new paint colors!
Photobucket
Kwal's "concrete" is on all of our walls and and "fate" is the accent on our fireplace.

For the sake of comparison...before.
Photobucket

Our fireplace.
Photobucket

Another view. By the way that canvas we got from American Furniture Warehouse. It was created by a local artist and "COLORADO" is spelled out with the names of all of the fourteeners in the state of Colorado. Matt says it's his favorite part of our house! He's pretty easy to please.
Photobucket
I don't really love pictures because I think that the colors look better in person. It's probably just my photo-taking, but we really do like it! It looks so much better without the yellow tint on the walls! I think these are either over exposed or it's just so much light pouring in, but the walls look really light but the color is actually a cool tan. It always looks darker at night and lighter during the day...obviously

We also got some new couches for a killer deal. Everywhere else we looked at them they were 2-3 times the price! We got them from American Furniture Warehouse because they were discontinuing them. We weren't ready to spend a ton of money on really nice furniture, so this was a nice compromise.
Photobucket
We obviously have a lot more to do in terms of decorating, end tables, tv stand (same ones since college)...so don't judge! But it's feeling more and more like ours.

Kitchen and dining

And another before...
Photobucket

Nathan says hi :)
Photobucket

I like the color in the kitchen as well.
Photobucket

We changed out the hardware on the kitchen doors a few weeks ago too. There all satin nickel now. You can see the hardware and the paint color here.
Photobucket

Close-up of hardware
Photobucket

More hardware...horizontal and vertical.
Photobucket

Nathan says hi again :) He's having a snack!
Photobucket

Not a lot to see in this room. Still Nathan's play area. The old couches are here for the moment. it will probably be awhile before we tackle this room.
Photobucket

Not the same view, but a before...
Photobucket

Photobucket

They did some work on our ceiling as well...fixing some issues from our first project, different company. They did a really great job!
Photobucket

Oh yeah...hand rail now white. Much better :)
Photobucket

Our bedroom is a light gray with the soffit accented a darker gray. We still have quite a bit of work to do in here, but you can't do everything at once!
Photobucket

Bedroom before...
Photobucket

Photobucket

Nathan likes the new furniture :) You are getting a "double wave" here.
Photobucket

Photobucket

He also approves of the paint colors...he did after all pick them out, right? :)
Photobucket

This makes me laugh...he loves to sit in the corners.
Photobucket

Photobucket

That's all folks! Got a hot date with my husband tonight so I need to get some things done! Plus, Nathan is now sitting on my lap...he could use some attention :)

How Cute Are These Boys?

Photobucket
This is at small group this past week. It was at Kyle & Jen's so we took Nathan with and let the boys have some fun together. Kyle let the boys jump on their bed and have a dance party! They LOVED it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

These boys are pretty cute too :)
Photobucket

Making snicker doodles!
Photobucket

Love them.
Photobucket
You can kind of get a glimpse of our paint job in the background. More pics of that to come!

Indy Trip

We went to Indy last week to see family and meet Baby Drew!
Get ready for a long one...I'm banging it out all at once because Nathan is ASLEEP!

Plane ride out. Nathan chillin' and snackin' in his own seat. Thank you Lord that he ended up with his own seat!
Photobucket
So he really wasn't this relaxed all of the way to Indy. But we made it!

Aunt Courtney picked us up at the airport. And she won Nathan over with a football.
Photobucket

Stopped by the hospital to see Nana. Nathan "pounding it" with his Aunt Court.
Photobucket

Home to see Nicole before she had to go in for work. Nathan found some toys. This was daddy's rocking horse I believe.
Photobucket

Back to the hospital that night to have dinner with the family since Matt's mom and Nicole were working.
Photobucket

Playing with Nana on Thursday morning.
Photobucket

Grandpa & Grandma J arrive that afternoon. Nathan gave Grandma J exactly what she wanted!
Photobucket

Wearing Grandpa J's hat :)
Photobucket

Thursday evening we went to our good friends, Adam & Jessie's, home for dinner. Here's Jessie with Myla, the newest addition to their family! She is already 6 months old. Aren't her cheeks the best?
Photobucket

Nathan & Noah. Noah is their oldest daughter of three girls. She is 5 already and Nathan loved her...he also loved this Barbie vehicle! (Maybe it's not Barbie, but something girlie!)
Photobucket

Noah making Nathan laugh while Matt changed his diaper. They were cracking me up. Noah was so good with Nathan.
Photobucket

Adam and Jocelyn, their second little girl. She put several dress up outfits on while we were there! It was cute. Girls are so different than boys! :)
Photobucket

Jessie was so sweet and got Nathan some toys. These balloons were one of them. He's never had one before but he absolutely loved it! In fact, we took them back to the Witts and he played with them all week.
Photobucket

Sweet friend.
Photobucket

The boys.
Photobucket

Friday morning we went with the girls for breakfast and to see their house in downtown Indy.
Photobucket

At Hoaglin's Cafe. Their food was great!
Photobucket

Mark & Rosie came down on Friday too. Nathan was sleeping when they arrived so Courtney went up to get him when he woke up. The Grandma's were jealous of the way he was laying his head on Courtney's shoulder and would not get up or go to anyone! She claims it's because she gave him a football before trying to touch him :) So Uncle Mark had the same idea and gave him a glow in the dark football. As you can see, Nathan snatched it and then nestled right back into Courtney. ha ha!
Photobucket

Meeting cousin Drew!!!
Photobucket

Dennis & Carrie, cousin's of Matt's mom, came late Friday afternoon to visit from South Bend, IN. They brought their grandson, Joshua. He is so cute! Here's Nathan & Joshua sharing Mom Witt's lap.

There's Drew! Aunt Nicole and her nephew.
Photobucket
He was having a rough day with acid reflux, but was feeling much better by the end of our stay. Poor guy has not had an easy first few months, but has been doing a lot better!

Dad & Uncle. Boy, you guys look similar!
Photobucket

Saturday Matt and I went up to Marion to see some great friends of ours, Mike & Latrese Moffitt. I became friends with Latrese in college and had the pleasure of babysitting their kids too. Well, their oldest, Michael, is now a SENIOR in high school. At 6' 7" he's a shoe in for basketball :) So we went to one of his games. I think he won this tip, what do you think?
Photobucket

Photobucket

The Moffitts. Michael Jr, Latrese, Janae & Mike.
Photobucket

We went out for Mexican after the game. (They did win by the way, by quite a bit actually.)

Photobucket

Sunday after church. Mommy and her handsome little man!
Photobucket

Matt & Mark went on a cruise in the convertible.
Photobucket

Sunday night we watched the movie, Cars, as a family. Nathan hung in for a few minutes, but after that was getting up and playing and then coming back to feed us pretzels :) Here he is while he is still into it.
Photobucket
Well, kind of into it. He's "honking" Papa's nose here!

It was a really good movie!
Photobucket

For some reason, he thought it was hilarious when Aunt Courtney threw a red ball into the air and caught it.
Photobucket

Getting time with my new nephew, Baby Drew!
Photobucket

Monday...Nathan with his Aunt & Uncle. I love this pic.
Photobucket

Mark said he was going to win Nathan over by the end of our stay, and that he did! All of Monday Nathan wanted his Uncle Mark. He kept going over to him wanting Mark to hold him!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Playing with the cool tool bench that Nana got him. He loves that thing...we brought it home with us. The screwdrivers are still his favorite! I think he has 6 of them now!
Photobucket

Nathan and Drew got matching shirts from Nana. Photo shoot!
Photobucket

These two are too cute.
Photobucket

Nathan just had to sit in Drew's bumbo seat.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Drawing with Papa.
Photobucket

Nathan loved playing with his Grandpa J. They were buddies.
Photobucket

So, we weren't exactly looking forward to our plane flight home. But God knew what we needed that night... When we went to check in the ladies assisting us said the plane was only half-full (apparently Valentine's night is a good day to fly!) and that we could take the car seat on with us for Nathan. We didn't pay for a ticket for him, he was a lap child, but we knew we would have a seat for him because so few people would be on the plane. We were really unsure of what to do because we had never done that before. Plus, he was screaming on the way to the airport, IN a car seat, so we didn't know if it would go well on the plane. Ultimately, we decided to give it a try. So here we are getting ready to take off. So far, so good.
Photobucket
Food always helps :)

Sleepy!
Photobucket
The flight attendant was making fun of me for taking so many pictures of Nathan before take off...even later when we were in the air and I went back to the bathroom! I forgot ALL electronic devices needing to be turned off included cameras! :) He was really nice though, all of Southwest's staff seems to be.

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!
Photobucket
This is what he did ALL of the way home. Matt and I were so happy, we could hardly believe it. We even got a little shut eye as well! This is the kid that refuses to sleep on planes no matter how tired he is. The car seat did the trick. He did wake up crying a little a few times towards the end, but I was able to soothe him and calm him down so that he went back to sleep. Thank you, Lord, for a good trip back home!

At the Denver airport. Stop in the family restroom...those things are great. Nathan dressed for bed and ready for the shuttle ride to our car and then trip to home sweet home.
Photobucket

But first, we pick up our luggage.
Photobucket

And now, he is awake! Good timing. And good to be caught up on pictures.
