We got Nathan a pedal bike a few weeks ago. Long story about going down to Toys R Us to get it...rock chip in our windshield, lost my wallet with way more money than I EVER carry in it (remember that family photoshoot?) and while their system said they had 3 bikes in the store there were NONE to be found so we had to order it from home anyway. So a few days later, we presented it to him, letting him know that it was his early birthday present. (August birthdays can be the pits so this is how we handle it) :)
Good news: He loves it!
Also, I have now replaced all of the cards in my wallet and cancelled credit and debit cards. New license, Sam's club card, insurance cards, etc etc! And the windshield has been fixed. All rough days fade after some time! If someone found the wallet, took the money and pitched the rest of it...they probably had a nice shopping spree. I'm just appreciative they didn't use my credit or debit card as well. At least before I cancelled them anyway.
Daddy putting the bike together for Nathan. He was anxious to ride!
Trying it out! A little tough to try going without training wheels with the distraction of all of the neighbor kids, but he was excited nonetheless!
Josh cruising too :)
Henry, our neighbor wanted to try too.
"I guess this bike is mine now."
Silly.
Building a fort.
It wasn't working too well, so I decided to get out the...
TENT instead! Instant tent are amazing by the way.
They loved playing in this tent!
Yep, there's a tent in my house.
I took the big one down so brought the tent Nana made for Nathan up from the basement for the next morning. This is how I found him when I came down! He is watching PBS on his iPad and snacking on some oats and honey bars. He was sure to let me know he was using a bowl to catch the crumbs! See the backpack? That's where he got the bars from.
Another day, another ride.
Daddy testing it out.
Matt worked with him after work a bit before dinner, and then after we ate we decided to go on a trail by our old apartment.
This gave Nathan fewer distractions, a little downhill and a nice wide path.
Nathan improved so much just from the first time to this time. In confidence and skill. We have videos will have to post soon.
So proud of him for trying!
This night Matt taught Nathan how to get started by himself without help.
And his first wipeout! Thankfully it wasn't terrible. Just his hands scuffed up. Wearing sweatpants was a good thing! He was able to get right back on it.
I'm sure more fun with his bike to follow. He's going to bike ride with Jamin tomorrow and Jamin says he's going to teach Nathan to ride off of a curb! Love those two together :)

Sorry about all your troubles. You handled it well. You are doing great Nathan on your new bike. Now Josh can have fun with your other bike.
Looks like Nathan is doing great on his new bike! When are you going tent camping outside?
