Sunny Trip to the Park!

We were so excited for Saturday with the weather forecast promising warm and sunny weather (upper 70's)! I was so glad that I got the cleaning and laundry done so that we could just PLAY on the weekend :)

The forecast proved to be correct and we headed out on our trail for Cottonwood Creek Park. We had never taken Nathan to the playground yet as he is just a little guy, but we decided to try out the swings. At first, he wouldn't take his arms out. He just left them in the swing, like this.

He was so funny here. Watch his face ans Matt swings him back...

...and then up...

He'd open his eyes when he was in the shade and as soon as the sun hit him when he went forward he'd close them! :) He has him mama's sensitive eyes. I squint even when the sun is behind a cloud. I need sunglasses to see when Matt doesn't wear anything at all!

This boy is so cute.

Check out his expression :)

He makes me smile.

He also does this thing where if you lean your head in, he leans into your head. He did this to Jim at Liz's shower on Friday night. It was adorable!

Then, he started watching another little boy on the swing.

See him looking over?

The little boy was leaning forward in his swing. It was almost as Nathan was thinking, "hey, I want to do that!" And so he did.

Didn't really mind it, but didn't love it. Maybe in a few more months!

Then we decided to go down by the fields and watch the kids play soccer.
Photobucket

And have a picnic lunch! Nathan had squash :)

The last few times we have went out to eat...for Craig's birthday last week and then on Mother's Day with Lauren, Andy and Ashley, I have fed Nathan solids in the restaurant. He does so good! I think he is even less messy than at home! And the boon spoon makes it so easy to just throw it in my diaper bag and go.

Mommy should have put sunblock on like she put on Nathan. I got toasted! Except for my fingers from applying Nathan's SPF 50. And a few odd spots on my legs and knees where I apparently touched after putting the lotion on Nathan! It's not good to underestimate the Colorado sun!

Trying out one of our e-mealz for dinner: Chicken taco salad. Quite tasty!

Nathan had Cheerios :)

The shoe in the background was soppin' wet after our trip. Nathan decided to take it off and gnaw on it the whole time we were out!

Videos

Nathan started do a "one-sided scoot" (as his daddy likes to call it) this week. He's not crawling on all fours, but he figured out how to propel himself forward with one side of his body, and then drag the other side along! It is hilarious. Here is a video of the first day he started doing it.

Also, here is a video from last week and this post. Nothing exceptionally exciting. Unless you just enjoy watching him play and squeal :)

Liz's Shower

On Friday night, we had a shower at work for Liz. Her and her husband had been trying for years and years to get pregnant and last November they discovered they were pregnant with twins! I was ecstatic for her as well as many others! This spring the doctor discovered that one of the twins has a rare heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The babies are both boys, named Brayden Michael and Parker Ryan. Brayden has the heart defect. Right now they are hoping for a heart for Brayden. If they receive one and Liz is 32 weeks or more along they will do an emergency c-section and perform the heart transplant.

Although obviously scared, Liz and her husband Steve are very hopeful. We had a great time at their shower. Here is the happy couple!

Every time Denise (Matt's clinical supervisor) holds Nathan, he totally relaxes like this! It is so funny!

The brave men to attend the festivities :)

This is Rory and her son Hayden. She is one of our Physical Therapists who was pregnant only a month behind me! We used to take belly to belly shots to document our progress :)

And Nathan going crazy on Liz's knee. He loves to bounce when you sit him on your knee. You don't have to do ANY work! He does it all for you :) Liz was afraid she was going to drop him!
Photobucket
Please pray for Liz and her precious baby boys who will probably make their arrival this July.

Excited for our Mother's Day weekend with daddy off and weather forecasts promising sunshine!

Garden of the Gods

On Thursday night after Matt got off of work, we took Nathan to Garden of the Gods for the first time ever! I can't believe it has taken us this long. It is only one of my favorite places on the planet. There are several hiking trails throughout the park that we have never been on. We are usually on the paved area that is a little more "touristy". So we were excited to try out some of the trails.

Loading him up!

Love those red rocks! And the boys in front of them :)
Photobucket

This was so funny. Nathan's hair was sticking straight up against he sun hood in his carrier! Static electricity!

There are loops on the carrier to hook his toys onto. Nice feature!

Back at the car. Grabbing mama's face. He likes to do this.
Photobucket

Ok-I'll pose for a nice picture.

After our hike, on the way to Sam's Club. I love this mirror because I can keep an eye on him from up front. Lately, when I turn around and look at him he is all grins. It is adorable!

These last few days...

Nathan loves to get into his carrier when it is sitting on the floor by him. He tilts it down and pulls everything of interest out of it. He also loves to suck on this strap. We were getting ready to go the mall this night.

What are you looking at?
Photobucket

Just me and my toys

"Mmmm! Daddy's hair is scrumptious!"

Jen, Jamin, Nathan and I decorated Andrew & Brittney's (in our small group) front porch in honor of Andrew's birthday last Thursday.

Jen had the streamers and cobwebs on hand! Went perfect with the Spiderman banner!
