For the love of that Cottonwood...and more!

Random photo I took of Nathan, Jamin & Landin.  We met Jen and the boys at a school parking lot and playground last Friday so Nathan and Jamin could ride bikes!  Jamin is trying Nathan's out in this one.  Our boys are getting so big!

So, I have been experiencing these "weeds" this summer that I can't control!!! I thought, "why didn't I deal with them other years?"  I have sprayed round up and tried to pull them...but they are tough little boogers.  I started lifting up rocks to find them on the underside of the entire rock!  What?

I still didn't get it until I pulled a huge one out and started working it with my claw.  Then I asked Matt to get a shovel..We will never be rid of this Cottonwood!!!!  It's roots are sprouting.

And what roots they are!

Oh and look what just popped up on the path behind our house last week?

Yep, that's our lovely Cottonwood.  It will not go without a fight!

You can see the distance it is from the stump.  Which is still there as is our cracked wall.  I sent another email.

I read online about sprouting and suckers and all of the headaches Cottonwoods cause even after being cut down.

Oh yes, and this crack just formed on our concrete patio.  You can say the Cottonwood roots wouldn't be strong enough, but I'm not entirely sure about that after the reading I've done.

So we dug a lot of roots about, but I'm sure we'll need to do more...along with root kill or some other method.  Our entire back yard may end up dug up and re-sodded.  I wonder what it looks like around the sprinkler system?

I can say this though.  I don't think we'll be replacing or fixing our back patio/flagstone until we know this thing is gone for good!

Mowing buddies.

Clean up, clean up!

The boys love to be wrapped up like burritos after their baths.

Looks like Daddy has another mowing buddie now. You two are certainly determined to get those roots out. I am sure you had a lot of help doing it too. Love you all.
